Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) is excited to announce plans for its new 30,000 square foot Workforce Training Center, which will be located at the site of the former Kroger/Hays building, 590 Oakland Avenue in Helena. The acquisition of this property marks a major step forward in the college’s commitment to advancing workforce development in the region. The Workforce Training Center will serve as a cornerstone for technical education and career preparation, reinforcing PCCUA’s mission to strengthen the skilled workforce and drive economic growth throughout the Arkansas Delta.

Joe St. Columbia, Jr., Dean of Applied Technology and Workforce Development at PCCUA, recently shared the news during a presentation to the Helena Rotary Club. He emphasized the transformative potential of the project, which is being supported in part by grant funding. The new facility will be outfitted with cutting-edge equipment and technology to prepare students for in-demand careers. “Our goal is to increase enrollment in workforce programs by 30 percent,” said St. Columbia. “This center will give students access to hands-on training and real-world skills that translate directly into employment opportunities in our region.”
